LEAD TIME

The lead time for orders are a minimum of 4-6 weeks after a 50% deposit is made to initiate production. This time may vary due to the supply of material.

CARE & TREATMENT

Use a microfibre cloth when cleaning, only distilled water is recommended. Do not use any solvents on wood.

SUSTAINABILITY

Glue and metal fixtures are removed from the design of the objects. The designs can be dismantled, repurposed and recycled appropriately. Materials are sourced through local suppliers with all finishes made of water, natural oil and waxes. Off-cuts during production are recycled through further product development.

PLYWOOD

Specialised furniture grade plywood is used in all Justin Katsumata Yu objects. This type of wood has a Birch hardwood surface veneer, made of thin layers of timber rotary peeled from a log. The layers are glued together with the woodgrain of each layer at adjacent right angles offering the material its charateristic strength.

DESIGN DEVELOPMENT

The designs began as a simple prototype emphasising proportion, scale and usability. As a result, the forms develop into a size which maximises multifunctionality whilst minimising material waste in the production process.
